Getting to Strasbourg, France
Planning your arrival to the Capital of Christmas
Whether you're coming from Paris, Switzerland, Germany, or beyond, Strasbourg is remarkably well connected—and getting there can feel like part of the adventure.
We recommend arriving in Strasbourg by the afternoon of Saturday, December 6, so you’ll be rested and ready when the seminar begins that evening.
Below are some of the most convenient routes to reach Strasbourg from major European entry points:
✈️ From Paris (Charles de Gaulle Airport – CDG):
This is one of the easiest and most popular options for transatlantic travelers.
-
Take the TGV high-speed train directly from CDG Airport to Strasbourg. The journey takes about 1 hour 50 minutes.
-
TGVs depart several times daily from Terminal 2, so no need to switch stations in Paris.
-
Advance booking is highly recommended (we'll provide guidance and links).
👉 Bonus: Watching the French countryside blur past at 300 km/h is an experience in itself.
🚄 From Paris (Gare de l’Est train station):
If you're spending a night or two in Paris first:
-
Make your way to Gare de l’Est, one of the main rail hubs in Paris.
-
Take the TGV to Strasbourg, with journey times averaging 1 hour 45 minutes.
-
Trains run frequently throughout the day.
✈️ From Geneva or Zurich, Switzerland:
If you're flying into Geneva (GVA) or Zurich (ZRH):
-
Take a Swiss train to Basel SBB, then transfer to a regional or TGV train to Strasbourg.
-
Total travel time from Geneva: about 4.5–5 hours
-
From Zurich: about 3.5–4 hours
-
Scenic, reliable, and smooth—this is a great option if you're arriving early or staying after.
✈️ From Frankfurt, Germany (FRA):
A strong choice with excellent flight options from the U.S.
-
Take the direct ICE or TGV train from Frankfurt Airport to Strasbourg (approx. 2–2.5 hours).
-
No need to transfer stations—there’s a long-distance rail terminal inside the airport.
-
Comfortable, efficient, and ideal for travelers who prefer Germany’s hubs.
🚆 Other Rail Connections:
Strasbourg is also easily reachable via high-speed or regional trains from:
-
Luxembourg City (2.5 hours)
-
Brussels (4–5 hours)
