It began in 2006, when Rob co-led a Comparative Justice Institute in the UK and the Netherlands for 25 undergraduate students. In 2012, he and Anne-Marie ran their first joint study abroad course in London, where undergraduate students explored the city through the lens of the British criminal justice system. Building on that experience, Rob developed a study abroad course titled Rise of the Nazi Police State, which brought students to Munich, Nuremberg, and Prague to examine how the Third Reich centralized police power and enforced total control. That student trip evolved into Enforcers of the Reich—a Passport Perspectives Abroad global field seminar designed for thoughtful explorers that blends meaningful reflection with shared meals, guided walks, and beer hall conversations in three remarkable cities. After initially partnering with a study abroad company to learn the ropes, Rob began leading independent trips in 2015. Today, he and Anne-Marie craft content-diverse global field seminars for travelers and alumni groups seeking purpose-driven cultural experiences..
How it Started

What Guides Us
At Passport Perspectives Abroad, we believe that travel should be more than just a moment—it can be a meaningful beginning or a powerful culmination of a broader journey. That’s why we've designed our programs to serve as either a launch platform or landing point for longer exploration across Europe.

As professors who love to travel, we’re passionate about creating experiences that go beyond the surface—helping you shift from tourist to thoughtful, informed traveler. And as fellow adventurers, we believe your time abroad should be flexible, engaging, and fun.

When you enroll in one of our seminars, we’re happy to help you craft a personalized itinerary that extends beyond the group tour—whether that means arriving early to explore Paris or continuing on to other European destinations afterward. While we specialize in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic, we can assist with travel plans across Europe. From train tickets to hotel bookings, cultural site visits to curated local tips, our support is included in your program fee—no added cost, just extra guidance to help make your journey unforgettable.
Our Global Seminar Series
We call them Global Field Seminars because these journeys are about more than seeing the sights—they're about traveling with intention. Each trip is built around a theme that gives shape and meaning to what we explore together. Along the way, we make space for conversation, reflection, and shared discovery. These aren't just lectures or tours—they're opportunities to connect, to ask deeper questions, and to see the world (and ourselves) in a new light. We want you to be more than just participants or clients—we hope you'll become our travel partners, joining us across multiple seminars as we explore the world, one purposeful journey at a time.
