Wine & War in the Loire:
Global Field Seminar Route
The interactive map below traces the general route of the Wine & War in the Loire global field seminar, highlighting Angers and Amboise—our two home bases along the Loire River. Use the map to zoom out and situate the region within France, or zoom in to explore the towns, vineyards, and historical sites that shape the journey.

Angers serves as the seminar’s starting point and western anchor, a mid-sized Loire Valley city with a major rail hub and direct high-speed train connections to Paris in approximately 90 minutes. From there, the route follows the Loire eastward to Amboise, reflecting the geographic and historical arc that frames the seminar’s exploration of wine, occupation, and resistance.
